The very first time I saw The Evil Dead was late-night on Fuse. I thought it was the most awesome movie I'd ever seen. The playing of the tape was scary as hell, and the makeup effects on the possessed were great. I was so enthralled with the whole thing, I didn't even mind the cartoonish melting.
I still have a soft spot for it to this day, though I haven't seen it in awhile. I agree with your review.

I loved it. And the rape part was, um, unusual. Haven't seen that done in a horror film ha.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)
Haven't seen the original, but this is one damn good film.
Plot: San Francisco health inspectors find alien pods are taking over people as they sleep.
Deaths: The death scenes that we see are pretty creepy. However, I found the scenes more creepy when we discover the copies of the humans in which the pods took over.
Gore Use[/b]: There are a few scenes that feature some gore, but besides that this one's dry and that's not a problem for this masterpiece.
Shock & Suspense[/b]: A couple scenes made me jump and the suspense was pretty good. I thought the characters were well-done with great development, so I didn't know which character would survive or whatnot.
Most Memorable Scene[/b]: The ending. Totally caught me off-guard. Did not expect that at all!
Overall[/b]: Another great film recommended for my marathon. I loved it and found it to be well directed and the acting was pretty good for the most part. Very enjoyable. 9/10

Hmmm... haven't seen the various remakes. As any good horror fan, you should also check out the original.

Ah, I love the Evil Dead. I watched it the other night after not seeing it for nearly two years. I'm glad it still ranks up there as one of my all time favourites. Making me laugh and giving me the creeps in equal measures. As for the tree rape; she clearly loved it.

The Fog (1980)
The remake features a lot of scenes from this classic, but why is it that those scenes are more creepy in this film?
Plot: Californians are haunted by corpses from a 100-year-old shipwreck.
Deaths: The deaths were OK. I mean, they weren't really shocking and have been done before. But they were still filmed pretty well. Except the effects are a bit outdated, but not as outdated as most people say it is.
Gore Use[/b]: Not that much gore in this one, which surprised me.
Shock & Suspense[/b]: The suspense was good, but the effects kind of wear it down. It's still works, but I'm sure it probably worked very good back in the days. None of the scenes made me jump because they did in the remake. Although there were quite a few cheap scares in this classic too.
Most Memorable Scene[/b]: A lot of the good scenes were done horribly in the remake, but I guess the mystery at the end was a good one.
Overall[/b]: When the remake came out, my parents said they hated this film. I actually didn't find it that bad. It was enjoyable and kept me entertained. And I loved the cast. 8/10

The Gate (1987)
Even if its a kids horror, it's a dull one at that.
Plot: Two boys and a girl learn from a heavy-metal record that a gaping backyard hole is the gate to hell.
Deaths: The deaths weren't too great, being that there were hardly any. There was one scene where the girl stabs a monster in his eye though, which caught me by surprise since this is a kids movie (kinda).
Gore Use[/b]: Not that much gore at all. It's rated PG-13 for a reason.
Shock & Suspense[/b]: Nothing really scared me or had me on the edge of my seat. I was actually bored most of the time.
Most Memorable Scene[/b]: The scene where the boy defeats the big monster with his rocket. Yay!
Overall[/b]: The movie hardly kept my interest and I was a little disappointed because the plot sounded good. It's a dull film which adults and kids will roll their eyes at. Stick to The Monster Squad. 5/10

Maniac Cop (1988)
This was one of the first movies ever recommended for my marathon. I could never get a hold of this movie and couldn't find it ANYWHERE. Well, I finally did and I'm so glad I did.
Plot: In New York, a man in a cop's uniform starts killing people.
Deaths: They were pretty good for the most part. I mean, shoving a guy's face in cement lol. Haven't seen that done in a horror movie. But yeah, they were entertaining.
Gore Use[/b]: Not as much as I thought it would. Has a some blood in it, but that's it.
Shock & Suspense[/b]: None on both parts. This film was just a fun ride.
Most Memorable Scene[/b]: The flashback about the shower scene was what caught my eye. It reminded me of Eastern Promises, so maybe that's why I liked it so much.
Overall[/b]: Very enjoyable with a neat idea. I thought Bruce Campbell was the killer, but he wasn't ha. Glad I finally got a hold of this and will check out the two sequels if they're just as good. 8/10

Psycho (1960)
So, I FINALLY watched Psycho for the first time. And even though I was disappointed by Rosemary's Baby (Horrorbuff's rec), I was amazed by this classic! It deserves all the praise it gets!
Plot: A woman on the run stops at a 12-cabin motel, run by mother-fixated Norman Bates.
Deaths: The two were done fantastically. The shower scene was as good as I heard it was and the staircase death scene was my favorite.
Gore Use[/b]: Not that much chocolate syrup was used haha.
Shock & Suspense[/b]: The score was excellent and I didn't know it came from this movie. It adds on to the suspense in the movie because it's so creepy. I only jumped on one scene and that was the staircase death scene.
Most Memorable Scene[/b]: Even though I loved the shower scene, I thought it was entertaining seeing the staircase death scene. The direction was amazing showing him stumble on the staircase after getting sliced with a knife to the face.
Overall[/b]: Too bad the ending was spoiled for me or else I would've loved this film even more. The Birds was my first Hitchcock film I've ever seen and I loved it, but this beats it by a little bit. Loved it! 9/10

In the asylum trying to act sane, not wanting to hurt a fly. Classic awesomeness.

It's one of only five horror films I consider to be entirely perfect. 10/10. Without doubt.

Sorry that I worded it wrong! Someone told me the twist at the end, so I knew it was coming.

Psycho II (1983)
Of course it's not as good as the original, but it's still a good sequel.
Plot: Out of the asylum after 22 years, murderer Norman Bates come home and again hears Mother.
Deaths: They were pretty good but nothing compared to some of the 80s death scenes. They tried to keep the same route as the killings in the first one and they weren't as good, but still pretty good.
Gore Use[/b]: Back in color! The movie has some blood in it and more than I expected. A decent amount.
Shock & Suspense[/b]: None worked for me here.
Most Memorable Scene[/b]: I loved when Mary stabs the guy thinking it's Bates and he falls down the staircase and lands on one part which makes the knife go down even lower.
Overall[/b]: I thought this was a pretty damn good sequel and I heard the third is even better. The ending kinda made me irritated because it was predictable and it's been done better and a lot in other movies. 8/10

Psycho III (1986)
A decent attempt in the Psycho series. Not the worse of its sequels, but not as great as the first or second.
Plot: A failed nun and a sleazy musician find the desert motel Norman Bates runs in memory of his mother.
Deaths: Better this time of round, but still not excellent. It has a bit more deaths in this than the second and a few deaths weren't as predictable.
Gore Use[/b]: Just like the body count, this has more gore than the first two films. A satisfying amount I guess you could say.
Shock & Suspense[/b]: None really here! I wasn't really on the edge of my seat in this one or the sequel, but it's still a fun time!
Most Memorable Scene[/b]: I liked how they made a reference to the first one with the bathtub scene and the staircase scene.
Overall[/b]: I've enjoyed all the installments in this series but not-so-much the fourth one. Anywho, I found this to be an entertaining watch. 7/10

Hey everyone, I'm officially going to "retire" from my marathon. It's been a lot of fun hosting it and seeing everyone's reactions of my reviews on certain classics, but I'm just going to end it with one more classic and that is.. The Exorcist (1973). So yeah, I'm going to watch this movie Saturday for the first time and have my review up by Sunday. I'll have a reunion of this marathon on IMDb and post my favorites and least favorites of the marathon including best moments of the marathon, etc. Hope to see you all here Sunday

Whoa! You've never seen The Exorcist? Don't let Doc Coffin get wind of that. Anyway, it's been nice having your thread here. Sorry the board couldn't be busier.

No, don't worry Coffin. It has nothing to do with the board's pace (which is a shame, because I really love this board). It's just I've kind of grew tired of this and plan on watching more classics, but I'll just post them on separate threads. So no hard feelings. Don't worry

Neither. It's going to be awhile until I go to Blockbuster and rent it. I've been very busy lately.
Sorry for the delay.
