Alright guys....let's hear it: for those of you who LOVE eighties music, who were/are your favorite artists?
Mine are: Bon Jovi, Heart, OMD, Culture Club, The Bangles, Men at Work, Chicago, Def Lepard, Poison, and others.
So...what about all of you? ;D

Terrible. I actually like the 80's the least of all the decades 60s-00s.
I'll go with the Minutemen then.

Really? You don't like ANY of the music from that era? Wow....which decade do you prefer?

I take it that you mean 80s chart music. There was a lot of great music in the 80s. Rarely did any of it make the charts. Those bands that you mentioned....I can't even get any 'so bad they're good' entertainment out of them.....sorry!
There's no accounting for taste, eh?

I believe the title of the thread is "Favorite Musical Artists from the 1980s," right? Therefore, your choices can include anyone you wish, regardless of whether they "made the charts" or not. The ones I chose to list just happen to be ones that were more popular. I didn't include the rest because the post would have been far too long. And as for: I REALLY hope you didn't mean that as a jab at me. If you didn't then no harm no foul. If you did, it was uncalled for.

I like everything from the 80s, literally everything. If you gave me an audio recording of paint drying and told me it was from the 80s, I'd listen to it...I'd probably even convince myself that I liked it.

And as for: I REALLY hope you didn't mean that as a jab at me. If you didn't then no harm no foul. If you did, it was uncalled for. 'There's no accounting for taste' simply means that there's no working out other people's preferences. At least that's my understanding of it. So whilst there may have been the teeny weeniest bit of 'jab' involved, my intention was not to offend. Difficult to judge how sensitive some people are on here. Where I come from (maybe I'm talking about my cultural location as much as my geographic one), when someone says '80s music', they tend to mean popular music, chart music, exactly the type of music you listed, hence the misunderstanding. You seem a bit defensive. Maybe that's what comes of listening to too much Bon Jovi. And yes, there's a teeny weeny bit of jab involved in that too. But it's a light-hearted jab. Playful even. Which is what the first post was intended as. The internet....useless for conveying the subtle nuances of one's communication.

Well, it's good of you to admit that you intended a little bit of a jab. I kind of thought so. I do apologize, however, for coming off as being overly sensitive. I wasn't entirely sure of what you were saying in your post and I guess I overreacted to it. I'm sorry. I welcome any and all tastes in well, everything. To each his or her own, as they say, and I wholeheartedly support that notion. That's why I generally leave the field wide open whenever I make a post. And if being "defensive" is a side-effect of listening to too much Bon Jovi...it's a consequence I'll gladly accept. ;D

But I did forget about Faith No More, with their two great 80's albums, and the Red Hot Chili's with their two also.

See there? That's the main reason I adore the 80's....it was a decade that offered something for everyone.

Sure it would....as long as his arse is adequately lubed it should fit rather nicely. ;D

Even though I quite like the image of Bon Jovi's head in my arse with his muffled voice wailing "Oooooh, we're halfway there....", what will and will not fit up my arse is not up for public discussion. That's totally between me and Obscure437.
And here's my proper contribution to this thread, some of my favourite 80s bands:
Viv Akauldren Death In June Spacemen 3 Loop A.R.Kane The Moonflowers Treatment The Legendary Pink Dots The Bevis Frond Julian Cope Tangle Edge McCarthy The Magic Mushroom Band
