Just saw jessicacaligula's post on the Fav Lyrics thread. I've gotta know if anybody else digs Scott as well. Well, do you? Nobody in the states has ever heard of him, or the Walker Brothers for that matter. ("You know *sings*The sun ain't gonna shine anymore..." - all I get are blank stares.) Appearantly he's a bigger deal overseas, hell the Brits even got a documentary on him - in the theatres, even. I guess listening to him is like getting a golden shower from Zeus: exceeding beautiful, makes you feel a little dirty, and everyone looks at you like your crazy.

Yep, Scott Walker's the man. I love Scott 1, 2, 3 and 4, all great albums that got progressively better.
Have you heard his recent offerings? Specifically 'Tilt' and 'The Drift'. They alienated a lot of the fans of his more straightforward 60s and 70s output, as they are both ....errr, extremely weird, to say the least. He turned sonic explorer and made two of the most unique and baffling albums ever made. Being a big fan of experimental music, I love them both.

He turned sonic explorer and made two of the most unique and baffling albums ever made. Being a big fan of experimental music, I love them both. Story about The Drift: I was working in a restaurant kitchen. During rush times it can get pretty stressful back there. Now we have a stereo, and usually it's playing rap or Sublime. One week we have a "Who listens to the weirdest shit?" competion. I bring in Scott Walker's The Drift. I swear a pit to hell opened up in the floor. All of the orders were coming out wrong, everybody was yelling at each other, it was FUN. One of the rules of the competion was once someone turned something on, noone else could turn it off. People hated me. And I still love The Drift

Haha...cool. Those two albums are unfathomable to anyone but die-hard SW fans (Scott Walker, not Shattered Wake ;D) and fans of music being transmitted from other dimensions.

It's only fairly recently that I've become familiar with him. I gotta say he blows me away.
