Also....wait for it...Nightmare On Elm Street for NES. I played that game before I'd even seen any of the movies.

I've played Castlevania for years. Always a fun game. Please tell me I'm not alone.

Everyones played Castlevania for years. Though the 3-D ones aren't nearly as good as the side scrollers.

Exactly. I've played the latest handheld, which mixes 3D and side scrolling, and it's decent. Not as good as Circle of the Moon, though.

My favorites are Bloodlines for the Genesis, Dracula X for SNES and the bootleg copy of Rondo of Blood I found years ago. I'm almost tempted to buy a PSP just for the Official US release of Rondo.

Is the US of Rondo of Blood the recent one with Symphony of the Night included? That's what I have. Symphony of the Night is amazing. I almost bought a used version for the Playstation and it was going to be $26. USED AFTER YEARS.

I highly recommend it. It's 3D with side scrolling, and it's prett fun. Not very difficult.

I've been told that they lessened the difficulty... which is a shame, the original release of Rondo was disgustingly hard.
How come no one's mentioned the Shin Megami Tensi series yet?

I like a lot of the ones mentioned so far. I've been playing Resistance: Fall of Man on my PS3 and Turok, both of which have horror elements and they're pretty damn good, especially Resistance. Heard there's a game called Dark Sector has some horror elements like Resident Evil. I had an Atari Jaguar back in the day (shaddap!) and it had great versions of Aliens vs. Predator and Doom that I loved. Oh, and for old-skool... Poltergeist, Aliens and The Rocky Horror Picture Show on my Sinclair ZX Spectrum +2 - beat that!! haha

I would have since I just bought both Digital Devil Saga and Nocturne. Oh, and I forgot about Ghosts and Goblins as well as Splatterhouse. They are actually remaking it for the current systems.

You should pick up Persona 3 (the new edition P3 FES was just released)... Digital Devil Saga (both parts) is my least favorite of the series so far. But probably the best RPG series out there. Fuck FF (yeah I said it...)
They're remaking which? Because they aren't remaking Splatter House... it's been rumored for more than ten years...

The latest Electronic Gaming Monthly has screenshots for the remake of Splatterhouse. And I plan on picking up Persona 3 as soon as I get paid this week. I just didn't have the money to buy it along with DDS and Nocturne. But I'm liking DDS so far. www.g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/684860/Splatterhouse_Details_Ooze_Out.html

I had both Splatterhouse and Splatterhouse II on my Megadrive (Sega Genesis to you non-UK folk)...I remember them both being crappy, repetitive games, and yet I couldn't help but play them because of the horror theme...hell, I even had a handheld game from Namco of Splatterhouse...a remake could be a lot of fun, done right.
And how could I forget Ghouls 'n Ghosts!? One of the best scrolling platform games ever, I still like it...it was bloody tough too, which was good...call me an old grump but games are getting way too easy these days...

I'm shocked.. that its being done. There have been rumors for years... amazon was taking pre-orders for it about two years ago. Than it just disappeared. Now I'm going to have to see this pics. Most Groovy. Okay, seen the pics. It's bing done by the Mark of Kri folks... that's really not a good. While the game looked great... it really bored me. Looks like they've kept the Disney inspired graphics...

[glow=orange,2,300]I've seen some Resident Evil, but no love for Resident Evil 4 anyone? It's the best game I've ever played and the game has such a Lovecraftian feel to it. Here's a small list:
Resident Evil series (especially 4) Clock Tower series Castlevania series Fatal Frame series Silent Hill series Manhunt 1 & 2 Dead Rising Siren Shadow of Destiny (horror elements, but great game regardless) Goosebumps: Escape From Horrorland (I shit you not)
And I actually loved ANOES and Friday the 13th for the NES. That's all I've got off of the top of my head.[/glow]

The Doom and Wolfenstein series are flat out awesome. Left 4 Dead and Dead Rising are pretty swell also.
