It was more of a thriller, but I saw Kontroll on IFC the other night. It was pretty good, Hungarian I think.

IFC is pretty good about reshowing movies pretty regularly, but I just checked their website and it doesn't look like they're showing it again anytime soon.

'Viy' (1967) is a Russian film that was based upon the same short story that was the inspiration for Bava's 'Black Sunday'. It deals with themes similar to those dealt with in 'The Wicker Man'. Recommended.

Also, another Russian film (well, Western Russia is Eastern Europe after all). 'Visions of Suffering' is a disturbing and hallucinatory experimental film that, while not being everyone's thing (hardly anyone's, in fact!), is worth tracking down for fans of weird cinematic nightmares.
