Though his work went downhill after Halloween, Carpenter is still a guy who knows how to make a great film. I vote cinematic genius. Previous results:Director | % Talent | Votes | Jesus Franco | 50% Talent | 3-3 |

I realize that many people don't care for John Carpenter's work but I really love Carpenter's films. I have always enjoyed films that focus on creating a supportive atmosphere that complements the storyline. Honestly, I think Carpenter does that beautifully. But that's just me.

I have seen only four of his films, but I love all of them all. From what I saw, he's genius.

I don't expect anyone to vote against this one. He's one of the best horror directors out there. I love so many of his films and even enjoy some of the more hated ones. If you can believe it, I actually liked Ghosts of Mars. Yeah, I said it. It's an entertaining B-movie with some freaky villains.

I used to despise Ghosts of Mars simply because I didn't think it possessed the same creepy-ass atmosphere that I have grown to love and expect from Carpenter's work. Recently, however, after watching the film again, it has started to grow on me. And it really does have a claustrophobic feel to it, one that is very similar to that of The Thing (one of my faves). That one creeps me out EVERY single time I watch it.
