Wow, that was fucking terrible.
I know what Rob Zombie was going for, but that was just beyond horrible. All the characters were too OTT and just plain-out annoying. I just wanted them to STFU and the only suspense I had going for me was to want the movie to be over with. There was nothing new or interesting about the film. I heard The Devil's Rejects is a LOT better, so I'll watch that sometime later.
But yeah, I'm sure it won't take much to be better than House of 1000 Corpses. I actually thought his Halloween was good as a stand-alone, but this was just terrible. 2/10
Opinions on this?

It is pretty bad. I guess in trying to emulate the exploit/grindhouse-type flicks of the '70s, Zombie ended up making a laughable mess of, as you said, over-the-topness and completely unlikable characters. I've seen it on IFC a few times and I take comfort every time in knowing that everyone dies. ;D

I saw it about three or four years ago, and I absolutely hated it. It was just so DULL and the plot was thread bare. I might be able to appreciate it a bit more now, but I'm in no rush to see it again.
Haven't seen The Devil's Rejects either, (seems it's been on my "To Watch" list forever), But I've heard it's vastly superior.

Damn, it's weird seeing how much one film can make your whole directing ability better.
Because his first attempt was a bad one.
Did you like House of 1000 Corpses though?

I actually liked House of 1000 Corpses more than The Devil's Rejects and Halloween.
I don't know why. I just thought it was so much more wicked. Never was a fan of TDR, though. But, I've only seen it once, so I should really give it a rewatch soon.

I like house of 1000 corpses, and I like it more each time I watch it.The whole trashy,70's,rocky horror style exploit is fab, though I personally couldnt care less what happened to most of those kids, they were obnoxious and rude..I mean, you go to slap some hillbilly in their own home, and you are ASKING for trouble.

This is one of the rare movies we disagree on I know I'm definitely in the minority here, but I LOVE this movie. I feel that it's very atmospheric and I just love some of the shots in the film and the characters that he creates. I have a weird obsession with Halloween (the holiday) and love anything to do with it. For some reason, I feel like the movie captures the spirit of it with all of the legends and the "Murder Ride" and the Firefly family. It's one of those movies that's tough to explain why I love it so much, but it's among my favorites. I enjoy it more than The Devil's Rejects, which I also love. I really like Rob Zombie a lot and I think he shares the same mindset I do for horror and everything that goes with it.

I've only seen it once but I was very disapointed. I might like it more a seconf time around but I have to agree that TDR is far far superior!!! Go see it and enjoy a far better mix of grindhouse/TCM/hot middle american derranged hillbilly horror.
