After having the same shitty DirecTV receiver for six years, I'm finally getting a brand-wankin'-new one with a DVR. I don't watch all that much TV anymore, but I think it'll be cool to record movies off IFC and such.
Does anyone else have a DVR and make good use of it?

Bought one way way back when they first hit the market (yup, back before digital broadcasts and HD tvs)... and I never use it. It kinda just sits by my tv... I don't think its even still hooked up.

I use the hell out of mine. I don't think I've watched a commercial in I don't know when. It's great to watch what you want when you want.
