This is an interesting little movie in that it was released in the same year as The Craft and shares many of its plot elements, although the smaller budget and the script lead it inevitably to being more of a B-movie...not that I think that's a bad thing, cos I have to say I really enjoyed it, thought it was a good little flick. I have to confess that some of that may have been helped by lots of t&a on display (too much in one instance...), you get to see a nekkid Clea DuVall and Sheeri Rappaport is very seductive and believably determined and icy as the group's power-mad, siren leader (and the movie even manages to fit in a striptease sequence with her in Catholic schoolgirl's outfit...yowza... Yes, I'm a perv. Sue me. ) The witchcraft's not the main star here, it's more about the group of girls and the sense of oncoming dread from the Lovecraftian nightmare that their experiments will awaken. It's definitely not great or anything, but I liked it and think it compares favourably with other movies of a similar nature. Anyone else seen this? What's your opinion if you have? How do you think it compares to, say, The Craft, which I guess it traded heavily on the success on to get people to pick it off the shelves in video store back in the day? Any other movies dealing with modern day witchcraft like this that you'd recommend?
