and I finally decided to come out and say: I liked it! And I liked the sequel!
The two movies are pretty different from eachother, but I enjoyed them both about the same.
The first one took itself more seriously and I didn't mind it. The characters were pretty annoying, but not as annoying to a point where I couldn't tolerate them. And to the whole 'nudity' issue, I didn't even find it that bad. As for the gore, I didn't think nothing was really too much until the end.
I thought the film offered a great concept and had some interesting ideas thrown in as well (the asian girl who throws herself in front of train because she dislikes the way, etc.)
As for the second one, I thought it was pretty funny and interesting as well. Yes, it was pretty much predictable from start to end, but I still enjoyed it. I thought the torture scenes were better in this one, but due to the movie being so predictable, it made it become only as good as the original. I liked knowing some background of what the killers go through, etc.
I give them both 8/10s.
OK, now you can criticize me of why I liked it lol. ;D

I really liked both of them as well. Eli Roth gets a lot of criticism on the horror boards, but I don't think he's bad at all. For one, he shares a love for the genre unlike most of the other directors trying to simply cash in on PG-13 bullshit. He included a cameo by Ruggero Deodato in Hostel: Part II as a cannibalistic killer, how cool is that? I think his films are fairly original and entertaining as well. Anyway, I'm a much bigger fan of the first than I am the second. I still enjoyed both of them a lot though.
