Definitely. The book truly creeped me out in some parts, and the ending was spectacular. Then I saw the Brolin/Kidder movie and I thought to myself, "Wow. That was nothing like what I imagined." It just seemed like all the creepy parts of the book were either left out of the movie or didn't transfer well to the screen at all.

I didnt like the remake at all! The original flick was decent.

Anyone find Anson's book more creepy than the movie? Sorry, late response, but wanted to say I agree. I am not sure I believe all of the events in the book actually occurred, but the book was creepily effective. If I recall correctly, there was more history and info given on the Defeo family and there was a bigger George/Ron connection. Of the events that were in the movie--they just didn't seem to translate well. I didn't hate the movie like many others do, but it could have been much better.
